If you are a family person like me, the isolation has been great to bring my immediate family closer together. A lot of card games, movies and more eating and snacking than I should be doing:) We rarely get a chance to slow down in our personal lives as much as this. What a great opportunity to clean up some of the loose ends in our businesses as well. It is important to have the correct legal name of your clients in your accounting system or invoicing software before sending them an invoice.
Some companies have as many as 50% of their customers legal name being incorrect! You need to verify that the name they gave you is in fact their legal registered name. If it is incorrect, you may have a difficult time collecting this receivable.
Step 1) Investigate your new client process. Confirm that the legal name has been confirmed by the appropriate registered government and compared to what the customer gave you.
Step 2) List all of your clients from the billing system. Review them one by one. Correct any discrepancies.
Step 3) Put your new process in place with your team to correct the problem.
