🌡️ One Last Check Can Save a Life 🚗

Summer is here, and with hot temperatures comes an important reminder for all parents and caregivers:

✅ Always check the back seat before locking your vehicle.

After a long day at daycare, day camp, summer school, or activities, children may fall asleep quietly in their car seat. A change in routine, a busy schedule, or a moment of distraction can happen to anyone.

Before you walk away: 👀 Look in the back seat. 🎒 Check for children, bags, lunches, or personal items. 🔑 Make "Look Before You Lock" part of your routine.

Even on mild days, the temperature inside a vehicle can rise quickly and become dangerous.

🚨🌫️ AIR QUALITY ALERT 🌫️🚨

Smoke from wildfires burning across Canada is causing poor air quality throughout Southwestern Ontario. Even if you don't smell smoke, harmful fine particles can still be present in the air and may affect your health.

💨 How you can protect yourself:
✅ Reduce or reschedule strenuous outdoor activities if the air quality is poor.
✅ Keep windows and doors closed when possible.
✅ Use air conditioning or an air purifier if you have one.
✅ Check on family members, friends, and neighbours—especially seniors, young children, pregnant individuals, and those with heart or lung conditions.
✅ Monitor the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) and local forecasts for the latest conditions.

At this time, there is NO burn ban in effect for Perth County. However, we are asking our residents to consider postponing any unnecessary outdoor burning, including backyard fires, brush burning, and other open-air fires.

Every fire adds more smoke to an already smoky atmosphere. By waiting until air quality improves, we can all do our part to help keep the air cleaner and healthier for everyone in our communities.
