Heads up Everyone!! Big rains expected for this weekend! Some great advice here from Town of Taber, including putting down your spouts!! Stay safe all!!
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Taber region with regard to heavy precipitation and strong winds forecasted this weekend, starting tomorrow. You can view the details here: https://weather.gc.ca/en/location/index.html?coords=49.785,-112.151
While we definitely won’t complain about getting much-needed moisture, we would like to remind residents that special weather statements are a good opportunity to be prepared. For this particular statement, we recommend taking the following precautions:
⁃ Make sure your downspouts are out and draining away from your property (and not draining to a neighbouring property; drain towards gutters wherever possible).
⁃ Check your eavestroughs for any blockages and clear them so water can move through them.
⁃ Always watch your property for signs of flooding. This includes both outside and inside- check basements for signs of any water, and make sure any sump pumps are in working condition.
And we know Southern Albertans are typically used to the wind, but it’s also a good time to secure any property that might blow away (trampolines, patio furniture, etc.), and check trees on your property for signs of good health.
