Backpacks, notebooks, pencils and plenty of community spirit! 🎒✏️

Jarrod Roy, our VP of Growth & Member Experience, recently delivered the donations from our annual in-branch Back-to-School Supply Drive to Wanda Earhart, Manager of Programming & Community at Every Woman’s Centre.

A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who donated and helped local students begin the school year with the supplies they need. Your generosity is another wonderful example of what we can accomplish when our community comes together!

Building confidence, healthy habits and community - one step at a time. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

The Sydney Credit Union Charitable Foundation is proud to support the Cape Breton Fiddlers Run’s Learn to Run program. Meeting Monday evenings at the YMCA in Membertou, this beginner-friendly program gives participants the encouragement, guidance and community support they need to work toward completing a 5K.

We’re pleased to help create opportunities for more people in our community to get active, connect with others and discover the joy of running!

Budgeting gets a bad reputation for being complicated or restrictive, but it is actually the opposite! When you know what you have coming in and what is going out, you stop guessing and start making decisions with confidence.

A budget does not need to be a spreadsheet. Start with three numbers: what comes in each month, what you must spend on essentials like rent, groceries, and transit, and what is left over. That third number is yours to decide what to do with. Knowing that number in advance changes everything.

As we prepare for back to school, we wanted to take a moment to thank our dedicated team for volunteering their time at the Sherwood Park Education Centre Breakfast Program. Every Wednesday, before our doors open, a group of our staff are already at work, making sure kids in our community start the day with a nutritious meal.

This is what it actually looks like to be a community credit union! We are so proud of this team.

The Northside/Harbourview Hospital Foundation's Wig Bank program provides wigs at no cost to individuals experiencing hair loss due to a variety of reasons, including cancer treatment, alopecia, medication side effects, stress, and mental health challenges.

The Wig Bank is inclusive and available to all individuals in need, including men, women, and members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community.

The Sydney Credit Union Charitable Foundation’s donation will assist the Wig Bank Program with maintaining inventory and continuing their services free of charge to any individual experiencing hair loss due to medical reasons.

It’s starting to take shape!

Construction continues to move along at our new Sydney Credit Union Townsend St branch, and with more of the exterior structure coming together, we’re getting an exciting glimpse of what’s ahead.

The next big milestone is just around the corner, with work set to move inside this November as progress continues toward our official opening on October 1st, 2027.

There’s still plenty of work ahead, but it’s exciting to watch this new space take shape right here in the heart of our community. We look forward to sharing more progress along the way!

We’re incredibly proud to support Caleb’s Courage and the meaningful difference they continue to make for children and families in our community.

Created in memory of Caleb MacArthur, Caleb’s Courage helps support sick children and their families in Cape Breton, bringing comfort, hope and a little extra courage during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Sydney Credit Union is honoured to be a Super Sponsor and to stand behind an organization with such a big heart and an important mission - helping little superheroes fight BIG battles. 🦸💛
