Don’t choose a brokerage based only on commission split, fees, office size, or gossip.

🔎 Do your own due diligence.

BCFSA has a wealth of public information. Check it.

Before joining, ask:

✅ Who is the Managing Broker?
✅ Is the brokerage compliant and properly supervised?
✅ Who owns the brokerage?
✅ What is the regulatory history?
✅ Are there BCFSA decisions or disciplinary cases?
✅ What systems are in place for compliance, contracts, advertising, FINTRAC and supervision?
✅ Can you reach your Managing Broker when you need help?

And don’t be afraid to ask the uncomfortable questions:

Has a broker or owner ever had a licence refused, restricted, suspended or cancelled?

Don’t follow gossip. Follow the facts.

Before asking “What’s your split?”

Ask:

“How strong is your compliance?”
“Who will supervise me?”
“What support will I receive?”

Research. Verify. Then decide.
