I recently saw a post that asked:

"Should salaries be added to the job description?"

Most agreed that it should be, but I was one of the few that disagreed. And here is why...

Money is everywhere! There will always be a higher paying job, even after you take the highest pay salary. Money is not a long-term motivator for employees or anyone for that matter.

What really matters is if the purpose and vision of the company match with your own. And most people don't really know their purpose or what they want to be in the next 10 years.

If salary becomes normally placed in the job description, then you will just get workers and team members that care about the money. And once they have a money problem, they will go find another job that is higher paying.

I have experience with this growing my financial agency. When I first started building my business. I showed people the compensation right away. And when a few joined, once they hit a problem; Failed once on the licensing exam, the first few prospects say no to them, a family member saying "you can't do it", and more. They quit!

Why? Because they had no purpose or vision. They went into it to see if they can make quick money, and when they realize it was tough to achieve the money they wanted. They moved on to try the next thing.

Money is important for the short term. But if you want a long-term career. Develop a purpose (How can you make the world a better place) and vision (Where do you see yourself in 10+ years).
