Many first time home buyers have confusion about down payments and how much they will need in order to secure their first home.
The minimum down payment needed all depends on the purchase price of the home.

Depending on the price of the home, you'll be required to pay a minimum down payment:

• 5% for homes less than $500,000.
• For homes $500,000 - $999,999 it's 5% for the first $500,000 of the home price and 10% for the remaining amount.
• 20% for homes worth $1 million or more.

But if your down payment is less than 20% of the price of your home, you'll typically need to buy mortgage loan insurance.
