VFG Wealth

VFG Wealth Helping families and businesses manage financial risk. A unique approach - ask us about it! Mutual funds are offered through Investia Financial Services Inc.

At Vancea Financial Group, we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to financial planning. We believe that to help reduce risk and maximize wealth we must build a relationship with clients that allows us to create the perfect strategy for each individual. That means managing risk on a level that goes beyond assessing your investment risk tolerance or the riskiness of a particular investmen

t. It means understanding the inherent risks in your current financial strategy...and the risk in NOT investing in the products and services that best fit your financial profile.

Last week, members of the VFG Wealth team had the privilege of attending opening night of Death of a Salesman at the Stratford Festival , which we’re proud to support as this season's Production Sponsor.

It was a memorable evening celebrating one of Canada's premier cultural institutions alongside fellow community leaders, supporters of the arts, and Festival patrons. We even got to unveil our sponsorship plaque featuring a photo of Tom McCamus as W***y Loman in this year’s production.

The production also held special significance for our team. Advisor Tim Ziegler spent many years on stage before beginning his career in financial services, and his father, acclaimed actor and director Joseph Ziegler, was a longtime member of the Stratford Festival company. Joseph also portrayed W***y Loman in a previous production of Death of a Salesman, making this year's production particularly meaningful for the Ziegler family.

At VFG Wealth, we believe thriving communities are built through strong connections, shared experiences, and support for the organizations that bring people together. The Stratford Festival has been doing exactly that for generations, and we're honoured to play a small role in helping sustain its impact.

Thank you to the Stratford Festival team for a wonderful evening. If you haven't had the opportunity to see Death of a Salesman yet, we highly encourage you to experience this remarkable production and support the arts right here in our own backyard.

Innovation is at its best when industry expertise and real-world experience come together.

Last month, Trevor Neeb was invited to participate in a two-day Agent Workshop hosted by iA Financial Group (Industrial Alliance), Investia Financial Services and Microsoft at Microsoft’s Toronto Innovation Hub. Trevor was selected for his unique combination of technological expertise and hands-on experience working directly with clients as an advisor.

Working alongside industry leaders and technology specialists, the group collaborated to develop two Microsoft Copilot agents designed to help improve advisor productivity and streamline day-to-day workflows. The goal? Give valuable time back to the approximately 1,800 active advisors across the IA and Investia platform so they can focus more on what matters most: serving their clients.

We're proud to see Trevor contributing to initiatives that help shape the future of advice and demonstrate how technology can enhance, rather than replace, the human side of financial planning.

Congratulations, Trevor, on representing VFG Wealth and helping drive innovation across the industry.

Last week, some of our team attended an Investia networking event at Paradigm Spirits Co. in London. It was a great opportunity to connect with peers, exchange ideas, and continue finding new ways to enhance the client experience!

During the event, our very own Mike Vancea led a discussion and shared his insights on succession planning, while Trevor Neeb spoke about the technology and systems helping support the way we serve our clients today and into the future. The event also gave our team the chance to hear from other advisors, learn how they’re approaching challenges and opportunities in the industry, and bring fresh perspectives back to our practice and clients.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this that encourage collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the advisor community.

Representing VFG Wealth were Mike Vancea, Trevor Neeb, Julian Piwowarski, Dino Ferrera, Rob Flood, Timothy Ziegler, and Gesi Commisso.

If you’re feeling stressed by a rapidly changing economy, you’re not alone. Your employees are feeling it too. 😞

In fact, a recent study by MNP found that 61% of Canadians are feeling “financial whiplash” thanks to shifting economic conditions.

Financial stress impacts your team’s physical and mental well-being due to symptoms such as lack of sleep.

And it impacts your business too. The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada reports that for an organization with 200 employees, employee distraction due to financial stress could cost over $200,000 every year in lost productivity.

What can you do to help your employees manage their financial stress? A group savings plan can be a meaningful way to help improve your team’s well-being by alleviating some of their financial stress.

We can help you integrate your employee benefits into the broader context of your business planning – balancing sustainability with care and building financial strategies that support both people and performance.

At VFG Wealth, we believe wealth is about more than finances alone. It’s about supporting the people, traditions and institutions that enrich our lives and strengthen the communities we call home.

That’s why we’re proud to announce our partnership with the Stratford Festival as the Production Sponsor of Death of a Salesman for the 2026 season.

This partnership carries special meaning for our team because of our colleague Timothy Ziegler’s lifelong connection to the theatre. Before joining the financial industry, Tim worked as an actor alongside his father, acclaimed actor and director Joseph Ziegler, who was a member of the Stratford Festival company for nine seasons between 1983 and 2018.

The photos shared here reflect both a personal and artistic legacy. One captures Tim and Joseph together in School for Scandal at the Stratford Festival in 2017 — the only production they performed in together, and Tim’s final show as an actor. The other honours Joseph in one of his many memorable roles: W***y Loman in a previous production of Death of a Salesman.

We’re honoured to support the Stratford Festival and celebrate the enduring impact of storytelling, family and the arts in our region.

👉 Opening night for this year’s production of Death of a Salesman is this Thursday, and we encourage anyone looking to support the arts and experience a world-class production right here in our own community to check it out at the Stratford Festival. https://www.stratfordfestival.ca/WhatsOn/PlaysAndEvents/Production/Death-of-a-Salesman

✨ Team spotlight: Meet Brian Cressman

With more than two decades of experience in financial services and a commitment to professionalism, ethics, and education, Brian Cressman brings both depth and heart to his work at VFG Wealth. Since moving to Stratford in 2011, he has focused on building long-term relationships and helping clients feel confident in every stage of their financial journey.

☕ What’s your go-to coffee (or tea) order?
I’m boring. Tim Hortons Original Blend with Cream. I try to avoid Starbucks but my wife and daughter keep dragging me there.

📊 What inspired you to build a career in financial planning and wealth management?
My background is in banking, so I saw this as an opportunity for a natural transition into something more substantial and rewarding. I love what I do. I love my clients. It gives me so much satisfaction to serve them with a well-rounded approach to all aspects of their financial security planning.

🤝 What’s one piece of advice you’d share with someone choosing a financial advisor or planning partner?
Make sure it’s someone you feel open and comfortable with. Someone who is committed to a business relationship with you. Someone who is professional, honest and ethical, who is accountable and available to you and keeps in touch with you on a regular basis.

🧭 Many of our clients are preparing for major life transitions, from retirement to selling a business. How do you help clients navigate those changes with confidence?
It’s important to be an effective planner, guide and cheerleader. I need to know my clients and their situation to be able to confidently offer solutions and explain in their language what we’re doing and why we’re doing it. Most importantly, I’m encouraging and supportive in reassuring them that they will be ok.

3️⃣ If you could only use three words to describe VFG Wealth, what would they be?
Service. Integrity. Professionalism

✈️ When you’re not working, where can we find you?
At the dance studio or dance competition, supporting my 14-year-old daughter who is a competitive dancer. My wife, daughter and I also enjoy travelling, whether it’s escaping winter for a week, day trips to the beach, or a fun weekend in Niagara Falls.

Brian’s steady guidance, client-first mindset, and dedication to long-term relationships reflect the values we live every day at VFG Wealth. We’re proud to have him on the team!

A quick note that our offices will be closed on Monday. We’ll be back and happy to help on Tuesday.

Have a great long weekend!

A side hustle can be a great, low risk way to make extra income at something you’re passionate about. But how do you know when your side hustle is ready to be your full-time business? 🤔

Some signs are:

✔️You have more business than you have time to do it in.
✔️Your client base is growing steadily.
✔️Your income from your side-hustle is as much or more than you’re making from your full-time job.

Making the jump from side-hustle to full-time business takes careful planning.

Have you considered:

➡️What your insurance needs are
➡️If your tax situation is impacted
️➡️How this could change your retirement plans
➡️How you’ll protect your business from unexpected events such as illness
➡️Whether you’ll pass your business on to your children

Starting and growing your business can be exciting but also overwhelming. We can help you create a strategy for your next steps. Reach out and let’s get the conversation started.
