June is Migraine Awareness Month
Migraine is a neurological disease and is recognized as the third most common disease in the world, affecting approximately 14% of Canadians.
Although often associated with a headache, a headache can be a symptom of a migraine; during a migraine attack people can experience sensitivities to light, sound, smells and movement, as well as nausea / vomiting and dizziness.
Although migraine is not a treatable disease, it is possible to control the attacks (often by using medication and making lifestyle changes).
Please contact your doctor if migraine attacks are affecting you.

How your health care benefits coverage may help:
Some health care plans also include access to a dietician – a registered dietitian can help those following a special diet to improve their eating pattern, which may help to manage their medical condition.
If your plan provides an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) you may be eligible to receive free and confidential support if you are experiencing personal or work related challenges. This may include confidential counseling, workplace support and referrals / resources.
Reach out to your health benefits provider to find out more information on your health care plan and coverage available.
