We recently discovered something alarming that every business leader needs to be aware of. (Swipe to see 👉🏼)

One of our competitors, Tradebank USA, put up a hidden page on the Canadian section of their website with a headline that falsely stated:

“BarterPay® is now Tradebank of Canada.”

This is completely untrue.
 BarterPay® is not affiliated with Tradebank in any way. Our trademarks, software, systems, and innovations like BART™ remain 100% our own.

But, here’s the real concern: AI
 When AI scrapes the web, it often pulls in a single source of information and then amplifies it across platforms as “truth.” That means one misleading page can quickly snowball into thousands of false references, confusing the public and harming reputations.

This isn’t just about BarterPay.
 It’s about the new reality for every business.

✅ Check your competitors’ websites regularly.
 ✅ Search for your company name + competitor names to see what AI is generating.
 ✅ Educate your teams to verify sources before repeating what AI says.

We’re in a new era where even a “needle in the haystack” webpage can distort reality.

Leaders need to be vigilant.

Businesses fade. Markets shift. But legacy lives on.

A couple weeks ago, we celebrated one of the greatest milestones of our family… our son Aidan’s wedding to his amazing wife, Sydney.

Standing together as a family…Debbi, myself, Aidan & Sydney, Jackson, Tommy, and Micah, I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude.

Business has always been a huge part of our lives. Debbi and I have spent nearly three decades building companies, taking risks, and chasing vision.

But through it all, family has been the anchor.

Our boys have grown up watching the late nights, the early mornings, the setbacks, and the wins…and they’ve been part of it in more ways than I can count.

Now, to see them stepping into their own futures, building their own legacies, and carrying forward the values we’ve tried to instill… it’s a reminder that success isn’t measured only in profit and growth charts.

It’s measured in faithfulness, in relationships, and in the people who come after you.

Here’s to the next chapter…for our family, our marriage, and the vision we’re still building together.

We’re thrilled to announce that Jackson Porter has joined us as our new Lead Engineer of AI Innovation.

A recent graduate of Management Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Jackson brings a deep skill set in LLMs, Machine Learning, Big Data, RAG and Optimization. He’ll be driving innovation as we scale our AI capabilities to serve Canadian businesses and charities in smarter, more meaningful ways.

This is also a full-circle moment. Jackson’s very first co-op placement back in 2021 was right here at BarterPay™. And now, his first full-time career role brings him back to where it all began.
