Happy 36 years, Darlene!

When Darlene joined Wedgwood in October 1990, “Ice Ice Baby” was on the radio, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was brand new on TV, and Home Alone was weeks away from hitting theatres.

And after 36 years in insurance, we’re pretty sure she could cover every peril in the McCallister house. Icy front steps, paint cans on a rope, a couple of very determined burglars. She’s seen it all.

Thank you for everything you do, Darlene. We’re lucky to have you.

Our offices will be closing today at 3 p.m. to give our team a head start on the Thanksgiving long weekend. We’ll be back Tuesday, October 13, at our regular hours.

Fire Prevention Week is here, and we kicked it off with the SJRFD at West Station No. 2! 🔥

Thanks to our friends at Sovereign Insurance / Souveraine Assurance, we gave away 100 fire extinguishers to families. We hope you never have to use them, but at least you have them.

We also tried out virtual reality extinguisher training with K&D Pratt, and the kids got to knock down a fire with a real fire hose. That part was a hit.

Thank you to SJRFD for having us, and to everyone who came out.

Wedgwood is proud to be part of the Fire Prevention Week Open House at the St. John’s Regional Fire Department West Station, 215 Blackmarsh Road, from 1–4 p.m. today.

Drop by and bring the family. There’s plenty to see and do:

🧯 Pick up a FREE fire extinguisher, while supplies last
🥽 Try virtual reality fire extinguisher training
🚒 Practice using a real fire hose
👨‍🚒 Grab a fire hat and stickers for the kids
🔥 And learn a few simple ways to help keep your home and family safe

Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Our offices are open today, but we're taking time to reflect on the lasting impact of residential schools and colonialism on Indigenous communities. We honour the children who never came home, the survivors who carry these experiences, and the families and communities still living with their effects.
