Bank of Canada cuts interest rates again!

The Bank of Canada has just dropped the prime rate by another 25bps reducing rates from 4.70% to 4.45%. The second consecutive cut!

What Does This Mean for You?

Variable Rate Mortgages: This is excellent news. Anyone who currently has a variable rate mortgage will notice a decrease in their monthly payments or if you have fixed payments, more of your payment will go toward your principal, helping you save on interest and pay down your mortgage faster.

Fixed Rate Mortgages: While fixed rates are more influenced by bond yields, a rate cut can still put downward pressure on them over time.

New Buyers & Renewals: Lower rates mean better affordability and a great opportunity to get into the market or secure a favorable rate on your next term!

September 17th, 2025 - BANK OF CANADA RATE ANNOUNCEMENT 📣

The Bank of Canada has just dropped the prime rate by another 25bps reducing rates from 4.95% to 4.70%.

This change will provide more relief for those in variable rate mortgages and HELOC’s and a little more affordability to those in the market to purchase 🏠

As of July 30th, 2025, the Bank of Canada has maintained its policy interest rate at 2.75%, meaning no change to the prime rate.

This decision reflects continued caution in navigating economic uncertainties, inflation targets, and trade discussions.
