Even men’s mental health matters.
The invisible load that men, specifically dads, carry is something many can’t fully comprehend.
They watch their partners transform into mothers, sometimes struggling with the physical, emotional, and mental changes that come with it, and often feel helpless because they can’t simply fix it.
They learn how to support someone they love as she steps into a new identity while grieving parts of her old one. At the same time, they’re learning how to care for themselves, nurture a new baby (or two), navigate changing family dynamics, financial pressures, sleepless nights, and new boundaries with family and friends.
Too often, we ask dads how the baby is doing.
Sometimes we ask how mom is doing.
Rarely do we ask how they are doing.
Many fathers carry their stress quietly. They push through exhaustion, anxiety, fear, and uncertainty because they believe they need to be the strong one. But strength isn’t staying silent. Strength is knowing when to ask for help.
Dads deserve support.
Dads deserve community.
Dads deserve safe spaces to talk about their mental health.
And dads deserve the same compassion they so freely give to everyone else.
A healthy family isn’t built on one parent carrying the weight of it all. It’s built when both parents are supported, seen, and cared for.
This Father’s Day season and every day after, let’s remember that dads are human too. 💙
At The Baby Days & Co we offer a class specific to Dads navigating birth & postpartum with their spouses. I have tools and resources to help guide Dads through some of life’s toughest seasons.
