One of my favourite downtown Simcoe traditions is returning, and I’m excited to once again be part of the Halloween fun!

Unfortunately, a previous commitment means I won’t be able to join everyone in person this year, but my wonderful friends at Speech Hens will be handing out treats on my behalf! 🧡

A great evening volunteering at tonight’s Mayoral Debate, welcoming attendees at the door in Port Dover.

It was wonderful to see such a strong turnout and so many community members engaged in the future of Norfolk County. The atmosphere was respectful, the discussions were informative, and the candidates had an opportunity to share their perspectives.

A huge congratulations to the Simcoe and District Chamber of Commerce for organizing such a well-run event! The questions were thoughtful, the timing was excellent, and I especially loved the rapid-fire round! 👏

As we approach Thanksgiving, I’m reflecting on something beautiful I’ve experienced here in Bali.

Throughout the island, you’ll find small, colourful baskets called Canang Sari, filled with flowers and symbolic offerings. They’re placed outside homes, businesses, and temples as daily expressions of gratitude, devotion, and harmony.

Gratitude here isn’t reserved for a special occasion. It’s practised every day.

As a financial advisor, I spend much of my time helping people plan for tomorrow. Bali has reminded me how important it is to appreciate today.

The people we love, the relationships we’ve built, the opportunities we’ve been given, and the journeys we’re fortunate enough to experience.

This Thanksgiving, I’m especially grateful for my family, friends, our wonderful clients, and the trust you place in Cathy & myself.

As I sit here in Bali reflecting on the first half of this trip, I keep coming back to something I talk about often with clients:

Financial planning isn’t really about the numbers.

The numbers are simply the tools that help us build the life we want.

Over the past week, we’ve travelled halfway around the world, stayed in a beautiful private villa in Ubud, wandered ancient temples, taken part in a traditional purification ceremony, chased waterfalls, walked through incredible rice terraces, enjoyed dinners prepared by private chefs, shopped local markets, met some wonderful Balinese people and now settled into the coast at Jimbaran Bay.

This trip has been a wonderful reminder of why I believe so strongly in planning with a purpose.

When I sit with clients and we talk about retirement, investments, savings or creating income for the future, I always want to understand what sits behind the number.

What do you actually want your life to look like?

Maybe it’s travelling while you’re healthy enough to explore places like this. Maybe it’s spending winters somewhere warm. Maybe it’s a family cottage filled with grandchildren, helping your children get established, giving generously to causes you care about, or simply having the freedom to wake up on a Monday morning and decide exactly how you want to spend your day.

Those are the real goals.

A retirement plan shouldn’t just answer, “Do I have enough?” It should help answer, “Will I have the freedom to live the life I’ve been working toward?”

Bali has certainly been a bucket-list experience for us — and we still have another week of memories to make.

Whatever is on your someday list, my hope is that you don’t leave it entirely to someday.

Dream about it. Put a number to it. Build it into the plan.

Because wealth isn’t just about what you accumulate.

It’s about what it allows you to experience.

Today was a truly monumental day for our community. ❤️

Today, shovels officially went into the ground at the future home of the Williamson House — a moment that represents years of vision, perseverance, generosity and hard work by so many people.

A heartfelt thank you to the Williamson family for their incredibly generous donation of the land that will become home to this much-needed hospice, serving individuals and families throughout and .

To the founding board members who believed in this vision and persevered through the many steps required to bring a residential hospice to our community — today was a testament to your determination.

And to the countless volunteers who have worked tirelessly to raise funds and awareness: from golf tournaments and Ladies’ Night Out events to bake sales, flower sales and everything in between — every ticket sold, every event organized and every hour volunteered helped move this dream closer to reality.

Thank you as well to the generous donors, businesses, organizations and community members who have graciously supported the hospice along the way. This truly has been a community effort.

There was something especially beautiful about standing together on a fall harvest day, watching those ceremonial shovels go into the earth and realizing that this long-held dream is becoming real.

And somehow, it felt fitting that dragonflies were among us today — a symbol of transformation, hope and change as we celebrated the beginning of something that will bring comfort, dignity and compassion to families in our community for generations to come. 💜

Congratulations to everyone who helped make today possible. What a day for Norfolk and Haldimand.
