Many people living in Canada are immigrants, a melting pot of cultures and ethnicity. For me, I was born In Zambia, migrating to Canada in the 90s. Back home, financial literacy is not something that is taught or even really spoken about. Moving to Canada, I thought I already knew everything I needed to know about finances until I started to hear terms like RESP’s, pensions, and savings accounts.
So, I took the time to learn. I built an RESP for my daughter. I even worked in a financial institution for nearly a decade, always passionate about furthering my financial knowledge.
But a few years ago, I learned that my knowledge barely scratched the surface of what there is to know about financial literacy. It turns out that even in Canada, financial literacy is still hidden behind closed doors and generally inaccessible for those who are unaware that the doors are even there.
My goal now is to break down these barriers and share the knowledge I’ve acquired, allowing you to make the best financial decisions for you and your family and inform you about financial products that can help you build wealth and generational wealth.
