My Name is Rob Foster, and This is Why I Do What I Do

I don’t come from a financial background. For years, I was a truck driver, working hard and doing what I thought were all the right things to protect my family’s future. I thought I had everything in place in case something ever happened.

But on November 18th, everything changed.
I had a syncopal episode—lost consciousness while driving my transport truck. In an instant, the life we worked so hard to build started falling apart.

WSIB? No help.

Insurance? No help.

EI? Only 26 weeks of support.

Short-term disability? Some, but not enough.

I lost my commercial license for at least a year due to medical reasons. We were supposed to finalize the mortgage on our rent-to-own home by November 29th, but after the accident, the mortgage company backed out. We lost our rent-to-own deal, and the investor decided to keep the entire $51,000 we had put down.

They’re also asking us for another $12,000 and want us out of the home.

With no stable income, no one wants to rent to us.

Everything we worked for was suddenly gone.
It was a wake-up call. If I had the right plan in place… if I had understood how to protect my family’s future sooner, we wouldn’t be in this situation. That’s when I made a decision:
I’m getting licensed in the financial field.
I never want to see another family go through what we’ve gone through.

I’m still new, still training—but I’m passionate.
Passionate about learning, about growing, about helping people build something secure.
Passionate about walking alongside families like mine who want to make sure they are protected.
