We had a warm, sunny Sunday morning at the IG Walk for Alzheimer’s in the Greater Niagara Region! This year, our largest team yet came together in support of the Alzheimer Society Niagara Region and Alzheimer Society Niagara Foundation. I’m so proud to share that we raised nearly $40,000, contributing to an incredible $171,300 raised across the community. It’s always meaningful to be part of an event that supports so many individuals and families in our region. Leading up to the walk, we also spent time in some of Niagara’s most beautiful spots including Niagara Falls, the Welland Canal, and the Bruce Trail helping raise awareness for this important cause. We’re grateful to continue being involved each year. Thank you to everyone who showed up, donated, and supported and to the Alzheimer Society for the important work you do every day.

Who are you walking for?

On May 31st, the IG Wealth Management Greater Niagara Region will be joining the Walk for Alzheimer’s—Canada’s largest fundraiser supporting Alzheimer’s disease.

In support of this important cause, our team is taking on a step challenge of 12,477 steps per day, symbolizing one step for each person living with dementia in our region. We were also proud to participate in a promotional video with the Alzheimer Society Niagara Region and Alzheimer Society Niagara Foundation to help raise awareness and encourage community involvement.

100 years ago, yesterday, IG opened its first office in Canada, launching a century‑long commitment to helping Canadians achieve financial well‑being. To mark this milestone, we were honoured to ring the opening bell yesterday at the TSX. This was a meaningful moment to reflect on the legacy built by our people and the momentum that continues to drive us forward. I’m especially grateful to have spent 25 of those 100 years with IG, witnessing firsthand the evolution of this organization and the strength of its purpose. We had a challenging but rewarding Friday morning at the Niagara Christian Gleaners, with the majority of our work focused on chopping three varieties of cabbage. While it was no small task, everyone truly enjoyed the experience, pitching in not only with chopping, but also with packing, spreading, and scraping. The produce prepared will be sent to countries experiencing severe food insecurities. We are deeply thankful for the wonderful family support that joined our team. Moms, dads, brothers, sisters-in-law, and kids came along to contribute toward their high school volunteer hours. Thank you to everyone that came out to help and for the Niagara Christian Gleaners for having us.

Last week, we proudly wrapped up our International Women’s Day Drive in support of Gillian’s Place. Throughout the week, we collected items from Gillian’s Place wish list, including baby wipes, hygiene products, and school snacks. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our region, we were able to donate a large number of much needed items to women and families in our community. It was inspiring to see our region come together to support women. This initiative reflects the true spirit of International Women’s Day, recognizing the strength, resilience, and impact of women, and reminding us why it’s so important to continue supporting and uplifting one another. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this drive such a success.

At this year’s Leaders Forum in Winnipeg, our Region was honored with the IG Giving Cup for the second year in a row in recognition of our team’s outstanding commitment to community service, volunteerism, and fundraising. Last week our region finished off IG Giving Week strong with a very successful food drive, pizza fundraiser and IG Giving Trivia! We collected 3 barrels of non-perishables for Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold and collected donations for United Way Niagara from our Pizza Fundraiser. Our team wrapped up IG Giving Week with a productive morning spent volunteering at Niagara Christian Gleaners. We spent the morning cutting donated surplus potatoes, peppers and eggplant. This produce will be dehydrated and packaged to be sent to various countries experiencing severe food insecurities. Thank you to everyone that participated and thank you to Niagara Christian Gleaners for the opportunity.

Our Krispy Kreme Fundraiser returned for its second year in support of IG Giving Week. We sold 90 boxes, totaling 1,080 doughnuts and raising $630 for United Way Niagara! Thank you to everyone in the Niagara Region who helped make this fundraiser a great success!
