We all know that money invested in a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) is for our retirement. Many people associate retirement with being old. Generally, we are not excited with getting old, but that doesn't mean we should stop contributing to our RRSP.

However, let's look to the wisdom of our grandparents with their idea of saving. In the "old days," our grandparents would save a bit of money every week in order to buy something nice for themselves like new furniture or go on a vacation.

The Tax-free Savings Account (TFSA) is a place for your money to grow tax-free, and with it you can also buy something nice for yourself. You won't have to wait until retirement either. The TFSA allows you to make a distinction between investing for retirement and saving for your near-term rewards.
