The 1935 Voyageur dollar was Canada's first $1 coin. Myth or Fact? 📖

Myth! Canada’s first $1 coin was struck in 1911, but it never made it into circulation. Only three trial coins were produced before the project was cancelled, making the 1911 dollar one of the rarest and most sought-after coins in Canadian history.

Canada’s first circulating $1 coin, the Voyageur dollar, finally entered circulation in 1935.

👻Haunted Canada: Bell Island 🎃

Bell Island is an island located off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador in Conception Bay, and it is a place where a haunting story is told of The Hag with Two Faces. She comes in two forms: a beautiful woman in white, and a deformed old hag. Most encounters circle around the latter. Men have been known to walk through the small marshes, only to come out days later, not knowing where they are, or where they have been. They can only remember a putrid smell, and a grotesque old woman in ragged clothes crawling towards them from the bushes, forcing them to the ground with the smell of death.

In 1973, the Royal Canadian Mint issued a commemorative quarter to mark the 100th anniversary of the RCMP. These coins hold a unique place in numismatic history, primarily due to their special commemorative design and the intriguing variations of the Small Bust and Large Bust obverses.

👻Haunted Canada: Gibraltar Point Lighthouse 🎃

Built in 1808, the Toronto Islands’ Gibraltar Point Lighthouse is the oldest surviving lighthouse on the Great Lakes and the second oldest in Canada. Its first keeper, John Paul Radelmüller, tended the beacon through fierce gales and even the turmoil of the War of 1812. But according to legend, on a blustery night in January 1815, the dedicated keeper mysteriously vanished from his post without a trace. Some say he met a violent end, his remains buried near the stone tower he so carefully maintained, and that his spirit never left the tower. Since then, visitors have reported strange lights, unexplained footsteps, and even a shadowy figure.
