A: If you know you'll be away, consider appointing someone with Power of Attorney before you leave.

If a hail loss occurs during your absence, your appointed representative can file a Notice of Loss within the required three-day period and represent you during the adjustment process if needed.

A Power of Attorney form is included with your Co-op Hail policy should you need to appoint a representative.

Planning ahead can help ensure your claim is handled without unnecessary delays if hail strikes while you're away.

Every hail claim follows a process designed to ensure a thorough and transparent assessment.

• Notice of Loss Received – Once your Notice of Loss is submitted, Co-op Hail begins the claims process.

• Adjuster Assigned – A licensed adjuster is assigned to your claim and will contact you to arrange a field inspection.

• Field Inspection – The adjuster inspects the damaged crop with you or your authorized representative whenever possible to assess the hail damage.

• Claim Completed – Once the assessment is complete, the Proof of Loss is signed and submitted for processing.

Throughout the process, our goal is to handle your claim fairly, accurately, and as efficiently as possible.

A: Yes, you can purchase additional limits at any point during the season. Just make sure to declare the limits of any hail insurance you already have with other companies on your application.

A hailstorm doesn't automatically mean a total loss.

One of the most common misconceptions about hail damage is that if it hails at the farmyard, every field has been impacted the same way. In reality, hail can vary significantly from one area to another, sometimes changing dramatically over a relatively short distance.

That's why every field is assessed individually. Understanding where the storm tracked and how different areas were affected is an important part of accurately evaluating a claim.
