The Insurance Brokers’ Association of Saskatchewan (IBAS) is a voluntary organization of independent insurance brokers. It represents the interests of broker members to government, the insurance industry and the public. IBAS encourages seeking professional advice and competitive choice as the best approach for insurance consumers.

No better way to spend than with members and partners! Today, the IBAS Technology Committee is in Saskatoon meeting with leaders from several key insurers operating in the Saskatchewan marketplace to discuss carrier technology investments, roadmaps, systems changes, and how brokerages can align their own investments with those of their partners.

We are pleased to announce that Jason Galon, COO for , has been elected chair of the 2026-27 Insurance Brokers Association of Saskatchewan board of directors — becoming the 64th distinguished individual to hold the post. He is joined on the executive by Vice Chair Shantel Kalika (CEO of ) and Secretary-Treasurer Arynne Miller (Owner of St. Brieux & Middle Lake Agencies).

Other returning directors include: Past Chair Sarah Johnston (); Joanna Reece (); Lyndon Block (); Morgan Kolababa (); Regan Martens (Proven Insurance); Rob Barlow (); and Scott Frizzell ().

And joining the board for the first time this year are Robyn Cherry () and Tara Labbee ().

Thank you to all 12 directors for their dedication and service to — and for representing the 150+ and 1,900 licensed insurance brokers across Saskatchewan!

This morning, President & CEO was proud to join Board Chair Gary Vidal, MLA , CEO Benjoe, and other leaders in downtown Regina for the official launch event for the new IBAS Indigenous Broker Development Program.

This initiative is the first of its kind in Canada, and is designed to support IBAS members in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of property and casualty insurance brokers of First Nations, Métis, or Inuit heritage.

Yesterday, the IBAS board of directors met with several members of the executive team, including Penny McCune, who was celebrating her 40th anniversary with the company. We were proud to have CEO , Chair and CEO Peter Braid on-hand to surprise Penny with a special, gold-plated Bipper pin — the first to be presented to a carrier representative in Saskatchewan in the 37-year history of the iconic symbol. Thank you, Penny, for your unwavering support of the broker channel over your incredible career — and for your service to this province!

It’s the first-ever , and the entire team at IBAS would like to take a moment to recognize our 1,800 member licensees across Saskatchewan who are working tirelessly to serve their communities.

We know it is a trying time for our members and their customers. The wildfire situation in our province continues to evolve by the hour, with many losing homes, businesses, and their sense of security. Our hearts go out to those impacted.

IBAS is continuing to work hard alongside its partners, as well as , to provide targeted support where we’re able. We are especially grateful to our members who are on the front-lines of the disaster response, providing critical guidance and claims assistance to policyholders.
