⚠️ IMPORTANT DTC FORM UPDATE — EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 8, 2026

Are you applying for the Disability Tax Credit using Form T2201?

Beginning September 8, 2026, the CRA will no longer accept T2201 forms dated before 2023.

📌 If you have an older form that has not yet been submitted, you will need to complete a new application using the current version.

You can apply in one of two ways:

✅ Online application
Complete Part A through your CRA My Account and give the reference number to your medical practitioner, who will complete Part B online.

✅ Paper application
Download the latest Form T2201. The applicant completes and signs Part A, and an authorized medical practitioner completes and signs Part B. The complete form must then be mailed to the CRA.

🚫 Do not upload a new DTC application through the CRA “Submit documents” service. This service can only be used for DTC documents when the CRA specifically requests additional information.

Important reminders:

🔹 Use the current version of Form T2201—version 23e or 23f.
🔹 Both Part A and Part B must be completed using the same method.
🔹 Paper applications require handwritten signatures.
🔹 Missing information or signatures may cause the application to be returned.
🔹 Approval is based on how the impairment affects daily functioning—not simply on the medical diagnosis.

📌 CANADIAN PERSONAL TAX DEADLINES — SAVE THIS POST!

👤 Most individuals
Your personal income tax return is due April 30.

💼 Self-employed individuals
If you or your spouse/common-law partner is self-employed, your tax return is due June 15.

⚠️ Important: Any balance owing is still due April 30—even when your filing deadline is June 15. Interest begins accumulating after the payment deadline.

💰 Personal tax instalments
If the CRA requires you to pay by instalments, the usual deadlines are:

📅 March 15
📅 June 15
📅 September 15
📅 December 15

If a deadline falls on a weekend or CRA-recognized public holiday, the next business day generally applies.

✅ File on time—even if you cannot pay the full balance—to help avoid the late-filing penalty. Payment arrangements may be available through the CRA.

Please be cautious of text messages or emails claiming that you are entitled to a GST/HST refund or credit.

These fraudulent messages may:

• Create a sense of urgency or give you a deadline
• Ask you to click a link to claim your refund
• Request your SIN, banking details or other personal information

The CRA will not ask you by text or email to provide personal or banking information to receive a refund.

✅ Do not click suspicious links
✅ Do not reply or provide personal information
✅ Verify refunds directly through your official CRA account
✅ Access CRA services by typing Canada.ca into your browser—not through a message link

If you receive one of these messages, delete it and report it as spam.
