Something most people never think about: North America uses more road salt than anywhere else on earth.
35% of global demand; more than Europe, more than Asia Pacific. Every winter, that salt has to come from somewhere. A lot of it arrives by ship, from thousands of kilometres
away.
The Great Atlantic Salt Project sits on the west coast of Newfoundland, right beside a deepwater port and a
very short shipping lane to the markets that need it.
The demand has always been there. The question is who supplies it.
