Happy Retirement to our President and CEO, Wayne Wyborn after 40 years of service.

Congratulations, Wayne as you embark on this new journey!

Q: Do you have any travel plans?
A: I will be staying close to home this summer, but I am definitely looking forward to going someplace warm early next year, for a break from the winter.

Q: What hobbies are you excited to spend more time on?
A: I am looking forward to doing some metal and woodworking and catching up on my kindle library.

Q: What’s one lesson you will carry into retirement?
A: Never stop learning. The world is a fascinating place, and we all benefit from being open to learning new skills.

Q: What advice would you give someone just starting their insurance career?
A: Embrace continuous learning and be willing to go outside your comfort zone. There are so many opportunities; you just need to be open to them when the opportunity arises.

Today’s Broker Relationship Manager Showcase – Cindy Henderson, one of our BRMs for Alberta.

Cindy's hometown is Calgary, Alberta. Cindy prefers tea over coffee (But does like Baileys with coffee). Overall Cindy is a night owl. One word that friends would use to describe Cindy is ‘Adventurous’, but she says she really just likes exploring new things and ideas.

Cindy has been in the Insurance industry for 44 years, finding her way into the industry after pivoting from another path.

Cindy most enjoys meeting new people, appreciating their varied backgrounds and how they themselves came to work in the Insurance industry.

Today’s Broker Relationship Manager Showcase – Marc Lyle, our BRM for New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.

Marc's hometown is Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia. Marc prefers coffee over tea, enjoying the boost of energy in his mornings, especially with him being a Morning Person overall. One word that friends would use to describe Marc is ‘Caring’.

Marc has been in the Insurance industry for 17 years, getting his start with TD Insurance in Halifax before moving back to Cape Breton, where he was a Broker for 13 years prior to coming to Portage Mutual.

Marc most values and enjoys his co-workers, meeting our Broker partners, and the knowledge that every day means another day where he had a hand in being helpful to someone.

We had a great time hosting our directors, broker partners, and staff last week. We very much enjoyed the opportunity to share the company’s successes over the past year, as well as learn more of the exciting new developments in store for the future of Portage Mutual Insurance.

Today’s Broker Relationship Manager Showcase – Rob Aniballi, one of our BRMs for Ontario.

Rob's hometown is Stoney Creek, Ontario; He prefers coffee over tea. Rob would say he is a Morning Person without a doubt. One word that friends would use to describe Rob is ‘Steady’.

Rob has been in the Insurance industry for 23 years, beginning with an Insurance Program at Mohawk College.

In his work, Rob most enjoys the professional relationships he is able to build and strengthen with his colleagues and our Brokers.

Today’s Broker Relationship Manager Showcase – Brenda Holmes, one of our BRMs for Manitoba.

Brenda grew up on a grain and cattle farm north of Oakville, Manitoba; She prefers tea over coffee and would describe herself as a Morning Person. One word that Brenda hopes her friends describe her with is 'Helpful'.

Brenda has been in the Insurance industry for 35 years, getting started in Portage Mutual Insurance's Auto Underwriting department for 3 years before working as a Broker for almost 19 years. Afterwards, Brenda would return to PMI as a Broker Relationship Manager, which is the very same position she holds today.

When it comes to her work, Brenda enjoys a lot of things, but most values the people, namely collaborating with her colleagues and building and strengthening the relationships we have with our Brokers.

Lori's hometown is Crystal City, Manitoba; She prefers coffee (with Bailey's) rather than tea. Lori wouldn't describe herself as either a morning person or night owl, feeling she is a bit of both. One word that friends would use to describe Lori is ‘Supportive’.

Lori has been in the Insurance industry for 35 years, getting started at Portage Mutual Insurance in 1991 as a new face to Portage la Prairie.

Lori most enjoys working with her peers and Industry partners. Having her own work vehicle is a nice perk as well, she notes.

Today's Broker Relationship Manager Showcase - Lisa Todd, our BRM for Saskatchewan.

Lisa's hometown is Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; she prefers coffee over tea. Lisa describes herself as more of a morning person, keeping a reliable schedule to ensure she is well-rested for the day ahead. One word Lisa's friends describe her with is 'Loyal', but she thinks fun and silly are good candidates as well.

Lisa has been in the Industry for 42 years, starting in High School and University working with her mother, who owned the local Insurance Brokerage of her area while Lisa was growing up.

Lisa most enjoys working with her colleagues, our Broker Partners, and other industry partners.

Today’s Broker Relationship Manager Showcase – Kevin Struik, our BRM for Northern Alberta

Kevin grew up in Edmonton, Alberta; He prefers coffee over tea, and Kevin would describe himself as a Night Owl. One word that friends would use to describe him is ‘Fun’.

Kevin has been in the Insurance industry for 27 years, getting started by going to Grant MacEwan College for an Insurance and Risk Management Diploma, as both his Father and Grandfather were a part of the Insurance industry as well.

Kevin most enjoys going out and meeting Brokers over lunch, for golf, or during events.
