Pending increase in capital gains tax
This increased tax can effect cottage or investment property owners. I saw an article about selling the property to the kids and having them pay off the loan over many years. The tax lawyer listed the benefits to buyer a seller when organized properly.

How can a senior afford a condo in Florida? Get a Reverse mortgage here. Buy a place in Florida. Enjoy! When you're in the 80s high insurance may stop you from going. Sell and pay down your Reverse Mortgage.

Can't Afford to Retire?? Maybe you can!
Many professionals have mortgage debt and or other payments that are more than their pension income supports so they have to keep working. Otherwise if they increase their RIF withdrawal or cash in other investments the income tax and OAS pension rollbacks are expensive. If you consider your home equity as an asset along with your RIF or other investments depending on your tax situation withdrawals from your Reverse Mortgage are worth more to you as they are tax free. Withdrawals can be ad hoc so for example a $750k Reverse mortgage is your "available withdrawal". When you setup the mortgage you paid $500k to pay off the mortgage then withdrew $50k the next next year. With the first mortgage paid off your pension becomes yours to spend. Withdrawals beyond paying off your debt can be used for whatever is important to you.

The government has been focused on climate change and ignored the fact that inflation was increasing too much. The federal government gave a break to Atlantic Canada but has not agreed to help out citizens elsewhere. Government hasn't realized that many Canadians are experiencing hardship. The good news for seniors is houses have held their value so senior homeowners can enhance their cashflow with a reverse mortgage up to 59% of the assessed market value of their home. Many citizens can receive $2000 a month tax free although each case is different and depends on the home value and the age of the homeowner. Note CPP and OAS pensions are taxable but this income is not taxable and gives you extra money to pay for healthy food and inflated expenses. Note my new contact number is 416-910-7520.
