Kristy said yes to Dragon Boat in 2004 – and never looked back.

What started as a new experience quickly became something much bigger: a way to give back, to find community, and to be part of something that truly makes a difference.

Over the years, she’s shown up in so many ways – paddler, captain, volunteer, and committee member. Through it all, her “why” has stayed the same.

“I paddle because I believe in the impact we are making.”

We’re proud to share that the Canadian Museum of Health Care has received a $2,000 grant through our Community Involvement Program!

This funding will help create an interactive learning station designed to help children explore emotions and learn about caring for themselves and others. Hands‑on experiences like these help young learners build empathy, emotional awareness, and confidence – all while making education fun and meaningful.

Scientists in School

We’re proud to celebrate our partnership with Scientists in School, an organization making hands-on STEM learning accessible for kids across our communities.

Over the past four years, Kawartha's support has helped bring free, curiosity‑fueling STEM workshops to young scientists in Bracebridge, Brockville, Cobourg, Huntsville, Lindsay, Parry Sound, and Peterborough. Together, we’ve sparked big ideas and bigger smiles – reaching more than 450 children through exciting, interactive sessions at local libraries, BGC groups, and Girl Guides units.

From amusement‑park physics and forensic investigations to magic, art, and motion – these workshops are unlocking confidence, creativity, and possibility for the next generation of thinkers and explorers. ✨🔬
