September is here. 🍂🌻

It won’t be long now until the leaves start changing colours and a crisp fall breeze blows through.

Let the change in season be a gentle reminder that the year is moving quickly.

Instead of waiting until December to think about your finances, pause and take some time now. Some of the best planning opportunities happen in the fall, and starting in September gives you time to make thoughtful decisions rather than rushed ones.

Whether retirement is just around the corner or still a few years away, this is a great time to ask yourself:

Am I still on track?
Has anything changed this year?
Am I making the most of the opportunities available to me?

At Schilling Financial, we believe good planning isn't about reacting—it's about preparing.

So here’s to September and a season of intentional planning, beautiful fall weekends, and enjoying the life you've worked so hard to build.

Happy September!

As summer winds down, it is a good reminder that time is one of our most valuable resources.

We cannot create more of it.

But with thoughtful planning, we can often create more freedom in how we spend it.
Whether your goals involve retirement, family, travel, or leaving a legacy, a well-designed financial plan can help you enjoy the moments that matter most.

That's what good planning is really about.

📋 One of the greatest benefits of financial planning is having choices.

The choice to retire when you're ready.
The choice to travel.
The choice to help your children or grandchildren.
The choice to spend with confidence because you understand what is possible.

Financial planning is not about limiting your options.

It is about creating more of them.

September is just around the corner. For many families, that means change.

🎓 The start of a new school year
📅 New routines.
🍂 A new season!

All of this change is also a good reminder that financial planning is about preparing for life's next chapter, whatever that may be.

Whether your next chapter is retirement, helping children or grandchildren through school, purchasing a cottage, or planning your legacy, having a strategy can make each transition a little smoother.

When you see change coming your way, it’s time to get in touch with Krystyn. Book a call so we can make sure your financial plan is ready to turn the page with you.

No two retirements look the same.

🛩️ Some people want to travel.
👶 Others want to spend more time with grandchildren.
🤝 Some enjoy volunteering.
💼 While others start entirely new careers or businesses.

Your financial plan should reflect your goals, not someone else's.

And, if your goals change, your plan can change, too!

Remember: the best retirement plan is one that supports the lifestyle you want to live.

When was the last time you reviewed your beneficiaries?

It is one of the simplest parts of a financial plan, yet it is often overlooked.

Major life events such as marriage, divorce, grandchildren, or the loss of a loved one can all affect whether your beneficiary designations still reflect your wishes.

Reviewing them only takes a few minutes and can help ensure your assets go where you intend.

🔖 Save this post and schedule some time to review your beneficiaries before the end of the month.

"I didn't know that was an option!"

Whether it's reducing taxes, maximizing government benefits, or creating a more efficient retirement income strategy, there are often opportunities people simply haven't been shown before.

Getting the opportunity to show my clients new ways to make their financial goals a reality is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

After all, financial planning is about helping you understand your options so you can make informed decisions with confidence.

Is your child or grandchild heading off to college or university this fall?🎓

Planning your RESP withdrawals can help your family maximize the education savings you've worked so hard to build while taking advantage of your child's lower tax bracket.

Even if your family doesn't need the money to help cover school expenses, it's important to remember that government grants earned on RESP contributions are intended to help pay for post-secondary education. If they are not used while your child is eligible, you may lose the unused grant money. So, it is worthwhile to make RESP withdrawals while your child is enrolled and attending post-secondary school.

Additionally, making RESP withdrawals while your child or grandchild is enrolled in university or college can be a tax-efficient decision for everyone.

The money you originally contributed can be withdrawn tax-free.

The Educational Assistance Payment (EAP), which consists of government grants and investment growth, is taxable to the student rather than the subscriber. But because many students have little or no income while attending post-secondary school, they often pay little or no tax on these withdrawals.

✅ Planning today can help ensure you get the most from your RESP.

If your child or grandchild has a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP), now is a great time to plan your withdrawals.

It might surprise you to hear a financial planner say this. ⬇️

Financial confidence does not come from knowing everything.

It comes from knowing you have a plan.

📈 Markets will change.
📁 Tax rules will evolve.
🤭 Life will continue to surprise us.

Confidence is not about predicting the future.

It is about being prepared for it.

A thoughtful financial plan provides a framework for making decisions, even when circumstances change.
