CIRO Security Breach
You may have received a letter from CIRO recently informing you of a data security breach at CIRO. They are the regulatory body that oversees all mutual fund dealers, like Investia, and all banks, stock brokers, etc. CIRO is taking this breach very seriously and have offered everyone free monitoring of your credit profile. I would encourage you to sign up for one of the offers that were included in their physical letter mailed to you. This will ensure you are alerted if anyone attempts to apply for credit in your name.
Recently there have been a few cases of fake websites posing as investment sites. They have been trying to capture people’s login credentials for online trading accounts. In light of this, I would encourage you to follow the following recommendations:
1. Be vigilant and confirm you are using official investment websites and mobile applications before entering any login credentials.
2. Do not access your accounts through links received by email, text message, or social media.
3. Report any suspicious websites or incidents to us as soon as possible.
4. Monitor your accounts for unusual activity, login patterns or password changes.
We cannot stress the importance of point #2! NEVER log in to your Investia account by following a link in an email. Always go directly to Investia.ca to log in or log in via the mobile app.
Cyber breaches like this are becoming more common, so it's important to take extra caution when sharing personal information and using login credentials online.
At AMM, we have taken every step possible to keep your information secure. We take your privacy and safety very seriously.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
