The Bank of Canada elected to keep its benchmark interest rate steady at 0.25 per cent on Wednesday, reiterating its pledge to keep it there "until the recovery is well underway."

Happy New Year 2021 Everyone!

Bank of Canada have kept the interest rates at a record low for some time now. Therefore pretty much all financial institutions have kept or even reduced their Mortgage Rates.

For example, a 5 year fixed term, interest rate is at 1.89%

Interesting article in the Globe and Mail. Bank of Canada not raising the benchmark interest rate. Remaining at 1.75%...for now.

TD has announce an increase in Mortgage rates last week. RBC followed suit this week. Other Financial Institutions will certainly do so very soon. If you have a mortgage renewal coming up, now it is the time to put an application in to lock-in the low rates before they increase.....
