Yesterday, our Halpenny and Windley Ely Ottawa offices traded spreadsheets for secret codes at Escape Manor Lounge.

With colleagues from both offices mixed into teams, it was a chance to work alongside people we don't always get to collaborate with day to day.

Between the locked boxes, hidden clues and a few close calls with the clock, there was plenty of strategy, debate and laughter in the room.

We're pleased to welcome Myra Martino as our new Vice-President - Commercial Lines.

Myra brings 20 years of commercial property and casualty experience, with deep expertise in mid-market, large and complex risks, program development and market strategy. She joins us from a global brokerage firm, where she led Ontario's Mid-Market Broking team and built strong, lasting relationships with key insurance partners.

Throughout her career, Myra has built a reputation for creating tailored placement strategies for clients across manufacturing, hospitality, real estate, retail, construction and transportation. Her accomplishments include designing and launching a national P&C program for a leading association, developing a formal Large Account Broking Strategy, and leading a Lloyd's Delegated Authority team. She holds the Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation and is currently licensed in multiple provinces.

We're excited to have Myra's leadership, market relationships and strategic insight guiding our Commercial Lines team as we continue to grow and deliver exceptional value to our clients.

Last Saturday, the Ottawa team took part in the Wiggle Waggle Walk & Run in support of the Ottawa Humane Society.

It was a great morning supporting an important cause and spending time with our local community. Our booth was also a hit with all the dogs, who stopped by to grab a toy!

Thanks to the Ottawa Humane Society for putting together such a great event, we’re glad to be a part of it.

Yesterday, members of the Halpenny team hit the field for the 3rd Annual Ottawa Construction Association x REDBLACKS Corporate Cup.

It was a great afternoon of flag football, bringing together OCA member teams for some friendly competition at the home of the REDBLACKS.

Thanks to the OCA and OSEG for putting together another great event. We were glad to be part of it.

We're very pleased to welcome Matt Cirocco to the Halpenny team as our Vice-President – Surety Leader.

Matt will be responsible for leading the growth and expansion of our Surety business across Canada. Matt brings over 10 years of experience as a commercial banker, underwriter and broker, advising clients with respect to surety, construction finance, real estate development and strategic risk. He has developed his expertise advising contractors, developers, REITs, mining operators and private equity firms on complex bonding, credit and risk solutions across the full project lifecycle.

His experience and expertise will be a valuable addition as we continue to strengthen our surety capabilities and provide our clients with specialized solutions they need to manage risks today.
