Meanwhile participation in soccer jumped 19 per cent, and that has changed politicians' decisions about which sport to support.
"You're going to be thinking more about soccer than you're going to be thinking about baseball," Hendren said, adding that U.S. cities have been more aggressive in developing baseball clubs than Canadian ones."
It's almost like the MLB neglecting/ downright ignoring the sport in Canada hurt it's chances of baseball being successful up north.
Hopefully with the Jays revival we can see pro baseball back up north even if it just means a new Canadian minor league could form. Canadian baseball exists outside of just Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto eh!
