With October being mental health awareness month, I wanted to take a moment and discuss the rise in youth, as well as adults, who are being diagnosed with ADHD. For most, when left untreated, ADHD can present along side depression and anxiety.
According to CADDRA, the Canadian ADHD Resource Alliance, ADHD is the most common neurodevelopemnt disorder in Canada. Roughly, 1 in 20 youth are diagnosed with majority being boys aged 7-11 years of age.
As we educate ourselves we can learn to see the signs and help our children navigate through life. ADHD is not an excuse, but an explanation!
