For all my Canadian friends, the TFSA limit for 2024 has officially increased to $7,000 per person.

We knew that it would increase ... but now it is official.

In my opinion, the best time to make a TFSA contribution is January each year.

The sooner ... the better.

And so for most of my clients, we handle their TFSA contributions at the beginning of January.

Are you looking for a new advisor who is more proactive with TFSA contributions and other tax-saving ideas for you and your family?

Send me a DM.

We can chat about your situation and how I might be able to help get you back on track.

"Can't get your kids to leave home. Stop cooking with cheese!"

Do YOU remember those TV commercials?

Me too!

But seriously ... I'm having a lot of conversations this year with parents who want to help their kids buy their first house.

If that is one of your goals, here is an article with four ways you can help them out.

Including the newly launched in 2023 "First Home Savings Account," which is a tax shelter for Canadians.

If this is one of your goals, reach out to your advisor or send me a DM.

Many successful Canadian parents are struggling with this question:

"What is the BEST way to help my kids buy their first home."

The answer is complicated and every situation is unique, but this article does a good job of outlining several important things to consider.

And if this is one of your goals, you are not alone.

"Ontario Real Estate Association found that about 40 percent of parents had helped children (ages 18 to 38) buy a house. The amount averaged $71,000 as a gift, or a loan of $41,000."

If you want to know if you can afford to do it, without compromising your own financial future ... reach out to your advisor or send me a DM.

How can I get my toddler to eat broccoli?

What are you doing to make mealtimes more manageable for picky eaters in your house?

My youngest son Alex (age 4) is a picky eater, and we are still working on it.

This article has some good suggestions, but I could use a few more.

Please share your suggestions in the comments because I don't think he's going to eat broccoli if I call it "dinosaur trees."

Wow! Great news, Canada! The Tax Free Savings Account (TFSA) contribution limit should be going up AGAIN in January 2024.

The annual limit for 2023 was $6,500 per person.

In 2024, we expect it will increase to $7,000.

Statistics Canada published Canada's CPI yesterday.
And based on those CPI figures, it should go up another $500 in January.

For those of you "Fact Finder" types who want to see the details behind the calculations, please review the article below.

Follow me, and I will send out another update once it is officially announced by the CRA in mid-November.

And if you still don't have a TFSA, please talk to your advisor or send me a DM.

Are you still searching for a female financial advisor?

There aren't very many of us, but most of the female advisors I know are amazing professionals.

While some people prefer to work with a female professional, this new report shows that women make up just 18% of advisors at Canadian full-service brokerages.

As you get older, are you planning to live in your home for as long as possible?

You are not alone.

A recent survey found nearly 100% of Canadians 65 years of age and older say they plan to live safely and independently in their own home for as long as possible.

But nearly 30% of that same group says they don't feel prepared.

Here are four things to consider when aging in place.

What else should we add to the list?

To my friends in Canada who want to pay for their kids to attend college or university in the future.

If your kids are young, you might want to open a special investment account called a "Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP)" for this purpose.

And if you haven't heard about the Canadian Education Savings Grant or Canada Learning Bond, you are not alone.

According to this recent survey, most Canadians are unaware of these programs.

Talk to your advisor, or send me a DM.
