So you have the pre-approval that says you can purchase a home, but what if it takes months to find the perfect place? Will your pre-approval still be valid?

Pre-approvals generally have an expiration date of 60, 90 or 120 days BUT it's easy for your lender to get you a new pre-approval, if needed.⁠

If you don't plan on searching for a home in the next 90 days, but know for sure one is in the books for the next six months to a year, it is still a good idea to speak with a lender sooner than later. Consulting with a lender can help groom your credit for that future purchase, and this way there are no surprises!⁠
