🌷🏡🌷Spring is here, sellers are out, but are buyers still hesitant?

We are now halfway into spring and sellers are making their way back to the housing market. Reports from local real estate boards reveal sharp increases in new listings and inventories in some of Canada's largest cities including Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal.

RBC Economics believes this could reflect a backlog of sellers who took a pass at listing their home in the fall in the hopes of finding a better outcome this spring (see charts).

We're excited to be hosting a Financial Literacy Workshop for Youth (Ages 14-18) on Wednesday, May 15th at 4:30pm.

This informative session focuses on the importance of building sound financial management skills and capabilities throughout life and includes:

• RBC Olympian Bismark Beauteng sharing valuable tips on how to set yourself up for success.
• Personal finance author Noah Booth and RBC Financial Literacy Program Manager Stephanie Dean offering key financial and budgeting principles for youth. Participants will receive complimentary copies of Noah Booth's book, A Rich Future: Essential Financial Concepts for Youth.
• Playing "The Game of Life", an interactive group activity that involves participants choosing their career path and mapping out a budget.

What an exciting race that was!!!

The outcome of the 2024 Kentucky Derby is a great example of why we race! It doesn't matter who the favourite might be, on any given race day magic could happen. And Saturday was exactly one of those days.

In a photo finish that had three horses in line for the win, it was Mystik Dan who came away victorious by taking the shorter distance around the track.

The winner took home $3M, 2nd $1M, and 3rd $500k. Crazy that a "nose" was the difference between going home with $3M (and lots of interest from many eligible fillies) and $500k .

Congratulations to trainer Kenny McPeek who also won the Kentucky Oaks the day before.

Over the four days, the Kentucky Derby expects to entertain 165,000 guests.

That's a lot of hungry people. The kitchen staff alone includes 1,500 workers and 100 executive chefs all working to service the 40 different food establishments. And to celebrate this year's 150 anniversary, they will be offering a very special Old Fashioned cocktail that will cost you $150 USD.

As usual, the Run for the Roses looks to be a memorable event.
