Anna Solnickova, our VP Finance, had the same type of cancer that afflicted Terry Fox. She had bone cancer in her right knee at age 17 and then in her left lung at age 20.
In gratitude for the research that saved her leg and life, every fall Anna fundraises for the the Terry Fox Foundation, shares her inspirational story with students at various schools and organizes the Burnaby Terry Fox Run.
Sadly, due to ongoing public health concerns, this year’s Terry Fox Run has once again been cancelled in all communities and is instead happening through a Virtual Run.
Anna and her family will be doing a 5 km walk on September 26 as their way of honoring Terry.
Please join us in supporting her fundraising efforts for this very worthwhile cause: http://www.terryfox.ca/anna
To date the Foundation has raised over $850 million in Terry's name and continues to be one of the most fiscally responsible charities in the world, directing 72% of all raised funds to the cause - cancer research. Thanks to these efforts the 5-year cancer survival rate has gone from 25% in the 1940s to 63% today.
Each of us has been impacted by this terrible disease in some way. Research funded by the Terry Fox Foundation has been critical in the detection, prevention and treatment of many types of cancers. Anna and other survivors like her are proof positive of that.
Thank you for your support and generosity.
Sincerely,
Alan Cross & Team
