Peter Garwood-Jones is a contractor and residential construction specialist with 25 years of experience doing custom renovations in the Golden Horseshoe. His passion for building and ability to see unique and innovative design opportunities has resulted in some stunning features including multi-faceted skylights, arched and panelled ceiling as well as curbless shower entry. est venture, Garwood Homes, focuses on building a small number of premium-quality homes aimed at the Toronto Baby Boomer market. “These homes,” he says, “are for people who have lived a good life in the city, but who are looking for a less hectic lifestyle in the Niagara region. Likely their children have left home and they may want something smaller but they still expect exceptional design and quality finishes. "
Joining Peter are partners Bob and Terry Wheatley. They met in 2011 when Peter did a complete renovation of their basement. Before long, he was adding skylights to their dark family room and completely redesigning their front entrance, including an addition. When the opportunity arose to work with Peter on Garwood Homes, they couldn't pass it up. "We went from being clients to partners" says Bob, who has over 40 years of financial experience with multinational companies. "Working with Peter on major renovation projects to our own home convinced us that he brings a unique and professional vision to home renovations. He also stands by his workmanship if there are ever any problems" adds Terry who brings 25 years of project management to Garwood Homes. Greg Sather, of McCallum Sather Architects, together with Peter and his team are committed to meeting their clients’ needs with unique designs and use of space.
“A good home is only possible when you build well from the ground up,” says Garwood-Jones, quoting one of the many lessons he learned working with his father, Architect Trevor Garwood-Jones. “Nothing lasts without a good foundation, and that applies whether you are doing a simple bathroom renovation, building a deck or an entire house. I also learned from my Dad to respect other people’s property and clean up after myself!” he adds, with a smile. “Like all contractors, I want word of mouth to carry my business forward.”
