Squeeze In One More Drive, Then Tuck It In

There are still some good driving days left in Ontario. Get out and enjoy them while the roads are dry and the salt trucks are still parked. Then it's time to get your classic ready for winter. Here's the Zehr Vintage C.A.R.S. Top 10 checklist to help make sure it's ready to go when spring rolls around.

1. Last drives: Enjoy them while you can. Plan your final run to end at the gas station.
2. Fuel: Add stabilizer, fill the tank and run the engine long enough to circulate the treated fuel.
3. Oil: Change the oil and filter before storage, then run the engine to operating temperature.
4. Coolant: Check the antifreeze protection for the coldest temperatures your storage space might see. Air-cooled engines can skip this one.
5. Battery: Use a smart battery maintainer, or disconnect or remove the battery if that's more practical.
6. Tires: Check the pressures and consider tire cradles or other ways to prevent flat spots.
7. Stands: For a long layup, stands may help. Use the right support points for your car and follow the manufacturer's guidance.
8. Shelter: Keep it dry, ventilated and secure. Fabric shelters and carports can struggle under heavy, wet snow.
9. Critters and moisture: Block off the exhaust and air intake, set traps around the car, leave the parking brake off and use a breathable cover.
10. Paperwork: Take photos, organize your receipts and parts inventory, and check that your appraisal and agreed value are up to date.

Some owners suspend coverage on a regular auto policy for the season, which can leave them without collision coverage. The Milverton office worked hard to exceed their goal and gathered over 125 items to donate to the local Loaves and Fishes Foodbank.
The items will be delivered with the Annual Milverton Lion’s Club food drive.

If you live in Milverton please have your donations at the end of your driveway by 10am this Saturday Oct 3, 2026 for pick up or stop by the Lion’s gazebo across from Foodtown to drop off any donations from 10am-3pm.

Meet Monwar, our October Broker of the Month! 👏

Outside of insurance, Monwar is a proud husband to Natalie and dad to their two-year-old son. He loves spending as much time as possible with his family, whether they’re getting outside, exploring, or simply enjoying the little moments together.

When he’s not working or chasing after his little guy, you’ll usually find Monwar camping and enjoying the outdoors. Monwar is also a big movie fan. He enjoys getting immersed in a good film, from the story and characters to the cinematography and soundtrack. Whether it’s a classic, a new release, or one he’s watched a dozen times, he’s always up for talking about what makes a movie great. 🎬

Being a broker allows Monwar to combine his passion for helping people with the things that matter most to him... family, connection, and enjoying life outside of work.

ZEHR FEATURED CAR | 1965 DODGE A100 ICE CREAM VAN
Some vehicles are restored. Others become part of the family.
Dave and Kim had always had a soft spot for the quirky, stubby-nosed vans of the 1960s. When they found this weathered 1965 Dodge A100 sitting beside a barn, they saw something worth saving. Five years later, that forgotten van had become something considerably more ambitious.

The body was widened eight inches per side, the wheelbase stretched 24 inches and the roof raised to create the classic ice cream truck silhouette. Underneath, the original 225 Slant Six was replaced with a 318 V8 from a 1970 ’Cuda, backed by the original three-speed transmission and a factory 8¾-inch Posi rear axle.
The Good Humor-inspired theme gets a twist with red flake paint, skulls and the wonderfully cheeky “I Scream” motif. But the best part of the story isn't the fabrication. It's the reason behind it.

The A100 was built to bring the family’s collection of quarter-scale dealer-promo cars back into the spotlight. Dave, his wife and their three children all played a part, with friends, relatives and local businesses contributing along the five-year journey.
Completed just in time for MoparFest 2026, the A100 is now doing exactly what it was built to do: making people smile. And apparently, it only cost Dave 14 stitches.
