One of the biggest challenges in entrepreneurship isn’t having ideas — it’s actually putting them into action.

What really resonated with me in this conversation was the idea of advocating for your own ideas and being willing to put time behind them before success is guaranteed. That skill alone can be a turning point.

I’m genuinely inspired by what organizations like QUBIC are doing to empower the next generation of founders and innovators. When students are given the chance to take ownership of research, commercialization, and startup creation, it unlocks so much potential — not just at Queen’s, but across Canada.

These students bring something incredibly valuable to the table: energy, curiosity, and time. When that’s properly activated, it becomes a powerful driver for innovation.

That’s why supporting events like this matters to us. Promoting entrepreneurship strengthens our local communities and helps new ideas turn into real products and services right where we live. It's quite difficult to pitch an idea to a crowd of individuals, let alone figure out how to commercialize IP in a small window. Students who go through this process are sure to sharpen their business skills and bring some cool ideas to our community.

Big thank you to the QUBIC group for making an idea like this possible. I'm excited to see what this group builds. I believe their next contest is sometime later this year, so stay tuned !

Appreciate it

Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to support and sponsor something pretty special right here in our region 💡

I sat down with Scott Runté from Launch Lab to talk about the RISE Entrepreneurship Event—an evening focused on showcasing innovative companies from across Eastern Ontario that are building, scaling, and bringing big ideas to life.

RISE isn’t just about pitching for capital. It’s about community. It’s about giving entrepreneurs a platform, surrounding them with experienced advisors, and connecting them to an ecosystem that helps turn ideas into real businesses. From pre‑revenue startups to scaling companies, the energy in the room was incredible—and it left us genuinely excited about what the future looks like for our region.

LaunchLab plays a huge role in that journey. As a regional innovation centre, their team provides one‑on‑one, “been‑there‑done‑that” advice to entrepreneurs—helping them navigate growth, capital raising, strategy, and the uncomfortable parts of building a business (because you’re never really doing it alone).

Events like RISE remind us how powerful it is when local organizations, investors, and business owners come together to support innovation and long‑term growth in Eastern Ontario.

Big thanks to Scott and the entire Launch Lab team for the work they do—and for letting us be part of it. Looking forward to seeing where these businesses (and our community) are five years from now!

With Mortgage Guard from Co-operators, you can secure your mortgage through a chosen mix of life insurance, and optional critical-illness and disability benefits.

It’s Nick from Co‑operators — let’s talk RRSP Season!

An RRSP is the most popular way to save, so here’s a quick rundown of five strategies that will
help you to make the most of your RRSP.
1. Contribute the maximum
2. Start contributing early and regularly
3. Make an annual lump sum at the start of the year
4. Reinvest your tax refund
5. Contribute to a spousal RRSP
The earlier you start contributing to an RRSP the better.

At the same time, you’re almost never too old to stock up on your retirement stash.

No matter where you’re at with your RRSP let’s
chat before the March 1st contribution deadline.

Thank you for a fantastic 2025, and welcome 2026!

Truly, we cannot accomplish our goals and ideals without our clients and partners who support us. 2025 has been an amazing year, where we were able to lay the groundwork for new ideas in our community!

Your support allowed us to sponsor Food Drives, Dominion Dough Drives, Smile Cookie days, and help out our local hospital campaigns.

Im also very excited that we were able to help bring new entrepreneur and business-focused events to our community this year! The Rise pitch event was a success and drew people from all over Ontario!

Im excited to see what 2026 has in store, but again, it's only possible because our clients support us.

Thank you again,

Happy New Year

Thank you to Launch Lab and their team for hosting a fantastic RISE (Regional Investor Summit Experience) Pitch Event!

It’s truly inspiring to see the innovation of entrepreneurs from across Ontario, representing different industries and sectors, competing with their best ideas in a pitch competition.

We’re happy to support and sponsor events like these, as they help accelerate business development in our communities by broadening networks and creating opportunities for attendees and pitch competitors.

These events also allow partners such as Kingston Economic Development Invest Kingston, Ontario Centre for Innovation, and KNDL to connect businesses with the resources and networks they need.

Thank you again to Launch Lab for hosting this event, and here’s to more events like this in 2026!

Appreciate your time,

The County Bounty is our second small business behind-the-scenes look in Lennox and Addington!

Dodie, the owner of The County Bounty, took us on a tour of how they make their artisanal sodas right here in Napanee.

From flavour design to production and final product steps. This behind-the-scenes view was inspiring.

A big focus of our entrepreneur spotlights is to help young minds see how our local businesses turn ideas into production and implementation.

At the end of our Tour, Dodie also helped provide some insights and advice for our local young entrepreneurs from her experience.

Thank you again to The County Bounty and their team for creating great artisanal soda here in our community.

P.S. My favourite flavour is the cherry vanilla haha
