Tim Cormode’s passion for helping people with disabilities has landed him a spot in the Canadian Disability Hall of Fame.

In 1998, he founded the non-profit Power to Be, with a goal to “help people living with a disability or barrier access nature.”

“Anyone who really believes in possibilities and can be a role model for people that are, at times, underserved are people that are true inspirational leaders."

“Because of my disability, I spent almost two decades trying to find stable, gainful employment. I never found it. Instead, I teetered between employment, underemployment and unemployment. I struggled to pay my bills, sometimes choosing between food, rent or mounting student debt payments ... I was told more than once that maybe the job just wasn’t for me. But what if it was?”

Toronto-based freelance writer K.J. Aiello shares her story with The Globe And Mail.

Even before the pandemic, job options were limited because of attitudinal barriers

Every year on November 20, Canadians celebrate National Child Day to celebrate the adoption of the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of the Child on November 20, 1959, and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child on November 20, 1989.

Canada has committed to ensure children are treated with dignity and respect, and November 20 is a reminder of this commitment.
- Children deserve to have a voice.
- Children deserve to be protected from harm.
- Children deserve to be provided with basic needs.
- Children deserve the opportunity to reach their full potential.

“You don’t need to be superhuman.”

Merek Pipes was seven years old when he started playing hockey. He also danced, swam, sang, played piano, skied, and played soccer.

When he was 14 years old, he was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease.
Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are diseases that inflame the lining of the gastrointestinal tract, affecting the body's ability to digest food, absorb nutrition, and eliminate waste in a healthy manner.

November is Crohn’s and Colitis Awareness Month, so we thought we’d take the time to share Merek’s story and help to raise awareness.

2020 has been a challenging year for us all and it's never been more important to “have a convo, save a bro”.

Movember raises awareness of men’s mental health, su***de prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

It’s imperative that these issues are brought into the spotlight, as many men fail to talk about their problems out of fear.

This Movember, pay attention to your loved ones and let them know you’re there if they want to talk.

Every year, more than 100,000 Canadians receive life-saving care in Intensive Care Units around the country.

The staff taking care of patients are highly trained, and should be recognized.

October 27 commences Canadian Intensive Care Week, where we celebrate the world of ICU experts and thank them for taking care of us, and our loved ones.

THANK YOU! 🙏

Rett Syndrome is a neurodevelopmental condition that causes loss of language and hand use. It is caused by a mutation of the MECP2 gene, is first seen in infancy and predominantly affects females.

Fortunately, it isn’t degenerative and many people who live with Rett syndrome live long into adulthood.
