I guide professionals and business owners to take control of their financial roadmap and simplify their money making decisions. This way people can continue dedicating themselves to what matters most; work, friends and family. By expressing their personal financial goals and dreams to me, I can then put together a series of financial strategies which will assist them in achieving their goals. Beca

use of this they become more confident with their financial future which in turn leads to a less stressful family and work environment.

Personal income tax

New personal income tax reduction

The government announced a general personal income tax reduction as of 2017 which will consist of a one-percentage-point decrease in the tax rate applicable to the first income tax bracket — the income bracket not exceeding $42,705 for 2017—from 16% to 15%.

In conjunction with the reduction in the lowest tax rate, the conversion rate for personal tax credits will be reduced from 16% to 15%. However, adjustments will be made to certain personal tax credits to maintain the level of tax assistance granted to households. For example, the amount for other dependents will increase from $3,907 to $4,168 so that the value of the credit remains the same. The basic personal amount will not be adjusted, thus each taxpayer will receive a tax cut of up to $278.

Support of minor children

The government is announcing the payment of an annual supplement of $100 per child of school age for the purchase of school supplies. This amount will be paid every year in July by Retraite Québec.

The exception will be in 2018, when the government will make two $100 payments. The first payment will be made in January 2018 for the school year that started in September 2017, and a second payment will be made in July 2018 for the school year starting in September 2018.

The supplement will be granted to families with children who are 4 to 16 years of age on September 30 of the school year in question, regardless of the parents’ income.
