We recently hosted an excellent presentation at Fairview's office with lawyers Caleb Soucy & Tommy On, covering key topics and operational realities in real estate transactions. It was a very informative session with great discussions around fraud prevention, agreements, rebates, closing risks, and more.

A big thank you to Caleb for also inviting several new realtors to join us, along with mortgage agents from Fairview Mortgages who attended the presentation. It was a great opportunity to learn, connect, and collaborate with professionals across the industry.

Not all penalties are the same

• Variable rate mortgage → usually 3 months of interest (simplest + often cheapest option)

• Fixed rate mortgage → the higher of 3 months interest OR the interest rate differential (IRD)
⚠️ If rates have dropped, your penalty could be $1,000 to $10,000+ MORE

• Alternative option → some mortgages have no penalty, but come with higher interest rates
