Heading out for a long weekend on the water? Even if you’re a seasoned navigator, safety should always be part of the plan.

Before you cast off, take a few minutes to make sure your boat and everyone on board are ready for the day ahead:

✔️ Check the weather and water conditions, and avoid strong currents or areas you may not be able to navigate safely
✔️ Dress for the weather and bring plenty of water to stay hydrated
✔️ Make sure properly fitted life jackets are available for everyone on board (including your pup!)
✔️ Pack essential safety equipment
✔️ Let someone know where you’re going and when you plan to return
