Frederick John Bean
March 31st 1939 - November 10th 2022
“Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Friend.”

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Frederick John Bean. Our loving, devoted father, and friend to all whose lives he touched, on November 10th, 2022.
Predeceased by his parents Margaret “Peggy” Bean & Frederick Jones Bean, and siblings Philip Bean, and Ann Hadlow. He is survived by a large, and loving family: his wife Calponia “Carol” Bean; sons David, Michael, Rob, and Stepson Vernon Jr; daughter Alyssa; daughter in laws Karen, Lynne, Lisa, and Lisa; sister Christine and husband Mike; grandchildren Candice, Corliss, Jordan, Kathryn, Megan, and Vernon; Great-grandchildren Bowden, Carter, and Adonis. As well as a huge extended circle of family, and friends.
Born in Harbledown, England, the first child to Margaret “Peggy” Bean and Frederick Jones Bean, he witnessed incredible changes to the world as he revered his father for taking up in arms with the Voluntary Coast Guard Brigade. Soon after the war, the Beans relocated, settling in the small town of Faversham. He attended the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, and worked along side his father as a farm hand. It was there, on the farm that he learned the beauty of hard work, triumphs of self-sufficiency, pride and the importance of family values.
In 1957, a fresh graduate of the University of London, he set sail across the Atlantic on the R.M.S Synthia - Cunard Line in hopes of starting a new prosperous life in Canada. Securing employment on a farm in Ajax, ON, and proudly obtaining citizenship on February 14th, 1977.
A dedicated career man, John took a position at W.C McLaughlin Ltd. a small family owned insurance brokerage. Later purchasing the brokerage and working there for over 5o years. He accomplished many things while owning W.C McLaughlin Ltd., and brought change and innovation to the industry serving on the board of the Insurance Brokers of Toronto Region for many years, and as president in 1987. He was passionate about his work, and strived to help others during their hardest times through it. Many clients became friends, and family. Once retired, John dedicated his time to his family, and teaching the importance of unity to his community of Markham, On. He volunteered at his church, (Markham Baptist Church) and participated in the Pizza Lunch social hosted at the church on Wednesday afternoons. He will be remembered for joyously greeting students at the door every Wednesday. In spite of his two left feet, John enjoyed dancing, reading, bowling, and was a sports enthusiast. His favourite athletes being his grandchildren. He loved nothing more than to hear of their accolades, and adventures. John was an avid gardener and has left us with a seasonal reminder of his dedication to bringing beauty to the world.
John loved to talk, had a generous heart, a magnificent smile, and the warmest laugh in every room. We will miss him terribly. Friends will be received at the Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street N. (Markham Road) Markham on Saturday November 26th from 1:30 until time of service in the chapel at 2:30 pm. Condolences may be left at Dixon Garland.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

It’s Time for Your License Plate Renewal

The Ontario Government has done away with paper reminders for driver’s license plate renewals and driver’s license renewals, though this might not be well known. This has implications for consumers, since claims could be denied if drivers license and/or license plates are expired at the point of an accident. However you can sign up for digital reminders on the Ontario Government’s website.
