The credit score myth that’s keeping people from even trying

I talk to people every week who don’t bother reaching out because they assume their score isn’t good enough.

Here’s the truth: most lenders aren’t looking for perfection. They’re looking for a number that clears a reasonable threshold and once you’re over 680 or 700, you’ve usually cleared it.

Your score is one piece of the picture. Income, down payment, and having the right strategy matter just as much. So if you’ve been sitting on the sidelines waiting to hit 800, you probably don’t need to.

And if you’ve got a 900? I’ll personally call you my unicorn of the week 🦄

Three ways to pay off your mortgage faster, without completely overhauling your budget 👇🏼

1. Switch to accelerated bi-weekly payments.
Instead of 12 monthly payments, you make 26 bi-weekly ones. That sneaks in one full extra payment per year, which can shave years off your amortization without feeling like a sacrifice.

2. Put your raises and tax refunds to work.
Most mortgages allow you to make lump sum prepayments once a year. Even a few hundred dollars extra goes directly against your principal, not interest. Future you will thank you.

3. Round up your payments.
If your payment is $1,840, pay $1,900. It’s a small difference month to month but the compounding effect over time is significant. Every extra dollar hits your principal directly.
