It has been a while since our last post, however the following video and the message it carries has inspired us to share it.
At approximately the 13:52 mark of the video the idea of "perceived obsolescence" is introduced. I encourage you to watch and think about the significance of the message.
Choreographers, artistic directors and studio owners and parents, including myself, allow ourselves to be influenced to buy the newest style when in fact what's already in our closets is more than good enough.
What's more important here ... that your dancer looks good and is in the latest costume style, or that they've begun to master the art of dance, that they've challenge themselves to be better and grow up to be confident, respectful and responsible citizens.
I know what I'd choose.
I encourage you to consider doing the same and look for ways to reuse the costumes in our closets. .
