Majoring in Political Studies, while attending Queen's University, Kim Woollett always saw the Real Estate market as a lucrative business in which she could eventually pursue. Throughout university, Kim was heavily involved with student run organizations, in which she led as marketing director and sponsorship coordinator. She attended various conferences and debates, and discovered a desire for involvement along the way. Even throughout childhood, Kim had a vast array of devoted interests, which allowed her to build a strong system. After graduating from Queen's with her Honours Bachelors degree, Kim landed a role in sales at a company providing online marketing tools for Realtors in the Greater Toronto Area. It was within this role that Kim flourished and developed a passion for sales, Real Estate, and the power of online marketing. She exceeded sales targets; attended numerous conferences; and conducted webinars and in-person demos, thus developing a network of seasoned Realtors who she maintains a strong connection with today. By coupling this nexus with the exceptional ongoing training offered through Royal LePage Signature Realty, Kim is a true professional in her field, with her clients' interests being paramount. The thing about becoming a mother when you’ve spent most of your adult life building a business is that your priorities change, but your ambition doesn’t necessarily change with them.

And I don’t think we talk about that enough.

For years, I’ve been consumed by my work. Building something of my own, chasing goals, answering calls at all hours, and constantly thinking about what I could be doing next.

And the truth is, I loved every second of it. I still do.

I still wake up with a million ideas. I still get excited about new opportunities. I still have the desire to work around the clock, grow my business, and see what I’m truly capable of accomplishing.

That part of me didn’t disappear when I became a mother.

But now, there’s another part of me.

A part that wants to spend every waking moment with my son. That feels the weight of how quickly time is passing. That knows I’ll never get these years back.

And sometimes, those two versions of me feel like they’re constantly at odds.

When I’m working, I feel guilty that I’m not with him. When I’m with him, I feel guilty that I’m not working. It’s this strange, exhausting feeling of wanting to be in two places at once.

Because I don’t want to give up on myself; on the business that I’ve spent the last decade building. I don’t want to stop chasing goals or pretend that becoming a mother somehow made me less passionate about my career.

But I also don’t want to look back on these years and wonder if I was too busy building a life to actually live it. And I think that’s one of the hardest parts of motherhood.

Not the sleepless nights. Not the change in routine. But learning to exist as two people who both deserve so much of me.

The woman who worked tirelessly to build something she was proud of. And the mother who wants nothing more than to be present for the little boy who made her see the world differently. The little boy who will soon have a little sister consuming my time.

Some days, I feel like I’m doing both really well. Other days, I feel like I’m giving each one half of what they deserve. And maybe that’s the part nobody prepares you for.
