5 MISTAKES NG MGA FILIPINOs SA PAGBILI NG MORTGAGE LIFE INSURANCE
🇨🇦🇵🇭🏠

Here are 5 mistakes na dapat mong iwasan:

1️⃣ OO AGAD DAHIL BANK ANG NAG-OFFER

Pagkuha mo ng mortgage, may option kang kunin ang mortgage life insurance from your lender.

Minsan, dahil convenient at nasa mortgage application na, “Yes” agad.

Pero hindi ibig sabihin na dahil bank ang nag-offer, automatically iyon na ang best option for you.

👉 BETTER MINDSET:
Understand first. Compare your options before you say yes.

Maraming borrowers ang hindi alam na ang mortgage life insurance is generally designed around the outstanding mortgage balance only.

As you pay down your mortgage, the amount that could be paid toward the mortgage can decrease.

👉 BETTER MINDSET:
Don’t just ask, “May $500K coverage ba ako?”

Ask: “How much would my family actually receive, and how does the coverage work over time?”

3️⃣ AKALA NILA PAREHO LANG ITO NG PERSONAL LIFE INSURANCE

Mortgage life insurance ≠ personally owned life insurance.

With lender mortgage insurance, the lender is generally the beneficiary for the mortgage amount.

With personally owned life insurance, you own the policy and can name your beneficiaries according to the policy and applicable rules.

👉 BETTER MINDSET:
Know the difference between protecting the mortgage and protecting your family.

4️⃣ HINDI NIREREVIEW KUNG SAPAT BA ANG COVERAGE

“Covered na ang mortgage ko.”

Pero what about:

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family expenses
💰 Other debts
🎓 Kids’ education
🏠 Future housing costs
💵 Lost income

If something happens to you, your family may need more than just the mortgage paid off.

👉 BETTER MINDSET:
Don’t only ask, “Will the mortgage be paid?”

Ask, “Will my family still be financially okay?”

Pero your mortgage could be one of the biggest financial commitments you’ll ever make.

👉 BETTER MINDSET:
Before you sign, understand the cost, coverage, exclusions, underwriting/eligibility, how claims work, and who owns/controls the policy.

Don’t buy insurance just because it’s convenient.
Buy it because you understand what it’s protecting.

Your house protects your family from the weather.

Your financial plan protects your family from what happens when life doesn’t go according to plan. 🏠❤️

SAVE THIS if you have a mortgage or you’re planning to buy one.

SHARE THIS with a Filipino family buying a house in Canada. 🇨🇦🇵🇭

5 SIGNS NA MAKARETIRE KA SA CANADA 🇨🇦🇵🇭💰

Gusto mo bang mag-retire? Here’s how to know kung on track ka na or kung kailangan mo pang i-adjust ang plans mo.

Walang shame, just for education and financial readiness. 👇

👉 BETTER MINDSET: Build your emergency fund AND your retirement fund. Magkaibang trabaho sila.

2️⃣ MAY RETIREMENT SAVINGS KA BASED ON YOUR AGE 📈
As a rough guide, some financial planning benchmarks suggest having savings equivalent to roughly:

• Age 30 → 1× annual income
• Age 40 → 3×annual income
• Age 50 → 6×
• Age 60 → 8×
• Age 65 → 10×

Example: If you earn $60,000/year, a rough benchmark at age 50 would be around $360,000 in retirement savings.

⚠️ Rough guide lang ito—not a rule. Your pension, CPP/OAS, lifestyle, debt, and retirement goals can change the number significantly.

👉 BETTER MINDSET: Don’t compare your retirement number to someone else’s. Know YOUR number.

👉 BETTER MINDSET: Don’t guess. Check your My Service Canada Account and understand where your retirement income may come from.

4️⃣ MAY PLAN KA PARA SA HEALTHCARE COSTS PAG TUMANDA 🏥
Yes, we have provincial healthcare but it doesn’t cover everything.

Dental, vision, prescriptions and other expenses can still become part of your retirement budget.

👉 BETTER MINDSET: Don’t only plan for how much you’ll spend on food and housing. Plan for healthcare too.

The question is:
“How much monthly income will I actually need and saan manggagaling?”

CPP? OAS? Employer pension? RRSP/RRIF? TFSA? Investments? Other income?

👉 BETTER MINDSET: Don’t just build a retirement fund. Build a retirement income plan.

Because the goal isn’t simply to reach 65.

The goal is to reach 65 with enough income to live without depending on your next paycheque. ❤️🇨🇦

20 EASY HABITS OF PEOPLE WHO GET RICH FAST 💰

This is not about the secret formula.

More often, wealth is built through simple habits that you do consistently.

As Samuel Johnson said:

“The chains of habit are too weak to be felt until they are too strong to be broken.”

And that's true with money too.

So here are the 20 habits worth building:

1. Save before spending.
2. Know where your money is going.
3. Have clear financial goals.
4. Know how to delay gratification.
5. Don't need to keep up with others' lifestyles.
6. Disciplined even when no one is watching.
7. Consistent even with small progress.
8. Patient, not looking for overnight success.
9. Willing to learn and accept feedback.
10. Not afraid to start small.
11. Invest consistently.
12. Know how to control your emotions before making financial decisions.
13. Not easily influenced by trends or pressure from others.
14. Comfortable saying “I can’t afford it.”
15. Value their earnings.
16. Responsible for their commitments.
17. Long-term mindset, not just instant gratification.
18. Protect their income and assets.
19. They take calculated risks, not reckless ones.
20. They keep going even if the results are slow.

But real talk...

Just because you do all of this, it doesn't mean you automatically get rich.

These habits can put you in a much stronger position to build, protect, and grow your wealth over time.

You don't have to do everything right away.

Choose ONE habit. Start today. Then make it consistent.

Because building wealth isn't always about making one big financial move.

Often, it's about making better decisions, over and over again. 💰

What number are you doing now? Comment it below! 👇

7 mistakes most families don't realized

Most Filipino family in Canada don't realize they're making this financial mistake until it's too late.

You could be earning a good income, pay paying your bills on time and still be leaving your family's futures exposed.

If you plan to build a secure life in Canada read this before your next payday.

The biggest financial mistake usually aren't about how much you make it's about the conversations nobody ever had with us.

Here are the SEVEN mistakes I see families unknowingly make.

1️⃣ Relying on employer benefits.
Your workplace benefits are valuable, but they're tied to your job.
If your employment ends your coverage often ends too.
If that is your families only protection, it may not be there when you need it most.

2️⃣ Never asking what happens if my income stops tomorrow.
Mortgage
Rent
Groceries
Bills
Remittances to family back home.

Life doesn't pause because you're sick or injured yet many families have never created a plan for that scenario.

3️⃣ Thinking we're still young.
We have time being held today doesn't eliminate tomorrow's risks.
In many cases getting protection while you're younger and healthier simply gives you more option and can cost less.
Waiting rarely makes planning easier.

4️⃣ Avoiding money conversation at home.

Many Filipinos grew up believing money was something you don't openly discuss.
Unfortunately, silence often leads to delay decision.
And delayed decisions can become expensive ones.

5️⃣ Not having a will or updated beneficiaries.

This is this is one of the simplest things to put off.

But without proper planning your loved ones could face unnecessary stress, delays and legal complications during an already difficult time.

6️⃣ Forgetting to review your protection after major life changes.
Got married?
Bought a Home?
Had a baby?
Changed jobs.

Your financial plan should grow with your life.
What protected your life 5 years ago may not protect your family today.

7️⃣ Waiting for the "perfect time".

Here's what I've noticed.
📣 The families who finally take action almost always tell me the same thing:
"Sana maaga pa namin ginawa ito."
"Wish did this earlier."

💡Financial security isn't about being perfect.
It's about identifying the gaps before life does.

🤔If this post made you think about your own family's situation that's a good thing.
Comment protect and I'll help you identify where your family might have financial Blind spot.
