The Bank of Canada held rates at 2.25% again today. That’s seven decisions in a row with no change, and the rate hasn’t moved since October 2025.
What it means: prime stays at 4.45%, so variable mortgages, HELOCs and lines of credit don’t change. Fixed rates aren’t tied to this, they follow bond yields.
Next announcement is October 28.
