Everyone talking about banks' prime rate reduction. The Bank of Canada typically holds 8 of these announcements each year and may choose to increase, decrease or keep the Overnight Lending Rate. Does anyone remember those good old days in 2009 when prime rate was 2.25% and we had -0.90 % = paying 1.35% interest on a mortgage !!!. Anyhow bank prime rate being low is not always a good thing. The variable will now rates will be offer less of a " - " (minus) might even go prime to " + " (Plus) if prime keeps reducing lower.
